My Grandfathers Tattoo shop in Great Yarmouth (The Mitchell Brothers)
My grandfather, James Mitchell (Jimmy), owned and operated a famous tattoo shop in Great Yarmouth with his brother George. The tattooing store was originally started in 1900. George started working in his fathers store in 1939. It was (and still is) located under the Britannia Pier on the Great Yarmouth seafronts famous Golden Mile. James Mitchell, was well known across the UK for his art and tattooing studio. This page will show all the artwork, the equipment, pictures of customers tattoos and images of my grandfather at work. From ships, hearts, snakes, nude women and pre war tattooing, his work is extensive and the Mitchell brothers were well known for quality and service. Many soilders, both in ww1 and ww2 were tattooed by them before leaving for duty. I hope you enjoy our vast collection of tattooing memorabilia. If you have any questions or anything you would like to see further please leave a message or a comment and i will try to accommodate.
